SunSirs: Cyclohexanone Market Was Sorted out in a Narrow Range in August

Price trend

In August, the domestic cyclohexanone market was narrowed. According to SunSirs monitoring data, the average price of domestic cyclohexanone producers at the beginning of the month was 5,633 RMB/ton, and the average price of domestic cyclohexanone producers at the end of the month was 5,616 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.30% during the month. The price dropped by 30.94% from the same period last year.

Analysis review   

In August, the domestic cyclohexanone market generally rose first and then fell, with little price fluctuations. The price trend this month was mainly affected by supply and demand. When the downstream CPL market went down, the purchase of cyclohexanone decreased, and the market price of cyclohexanone went down. With the improvement of the CPL market, the purchase of cyclohexanone increased, and the market price of cyclohexanone rose.

In terms of raw materials, pure benzene: According to the data of SunSirs’ bulk list, the listing price of pure benzene on August 1 was 3,230-3,400 RMB/ton (average price 3,370 RMB/ton), and the listing price on August 31st was 3,020-3,450 RMB/ton (average price 3,390 RMB/ton), the average price increased by 20 RMB/ton compared to August 1, an increase of 0.59% this month. The Shandong pure benzene market rose and then fell during the month, and the low price rebounded at the end of the month.

CPL: According to data from SunSirs’ bulk list, on August 31, the reference price of CPL was 9,450.00 RMB/ton, which was a drop of 1.22% compared with August 1 (9,566.67 RMB/ton). In August 2020, the CPL market first declined and then rose, and the price at the end of the month was basically the same as at the end of July.

Adipic acid: According to the monitoring data of SunSirs, on August 31, the reference price of adipic acid was 6,560.00 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.91% compared with August 1 (6,620.00 RMB/ton). In August, affected by the weak spot trend of raw material pure benzene and weak downstream demand, the domestic adipic acid market first rose and then fell, and the overall situation declined.

According to the price monitoring of SunSirs, in August 2020, the commodity price increase and decrease list of the chemical sector increased 42 kinds of commodities, of which 16 kinds of commodities increased by more than 5%, accounting for 17.8% of the number of monitored commodities in this sector; The top 3 products were polysilicon (53.96%), TDI (30.15%), and DMF (28.48%). A total of 34 commodities dropped from the previous month, and 8 commodities with a drop of more than 5%, accounting for 8.9% of the monitored commodities in this sector; the top 3 products with a drop were hydrochloric acid (-16.08%) and isopropanol (-15.12) %), acetic acid (-10.13%). The average increase and decrease this month was 2.51%.

Market outlook

In September, the market as a whole may be slightly optimistic. The downstream demand side is mostly based on slightly optimistic sentiment. The chemical fiber market replenishes on demand. Cyclohexanone analysts of SunSirs predict that the short-term domestic cyclohexanone market will be mainly organized.
