According to the monitoring of SunSirs, as of May 13, the market price of softwood pulp was 4,620 RMB/ ton, and that of hardwood pulp is 3,809 RMB/ ton. At present, the domestic wood pulp market is stable.
Product: COVID-19 has a huge impact on the global paper industry. The demand for daily use paper and packaging paper is weakened and poor. The sales and demand situation in May is still not ideal. Some companies consider reducing production and operation. At present, the mainstream price range of softwood pulp is 4,500-4,600 RMB/ ton, Silver Star 4,450 RMB/ ton, Nanfangsong 4,460 RMB/ ton, Kailipu 4,700 RMB/ ton, and Beimu 5,000 RMB/ton. The market of softpulp in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai is mainly stable, and the market purchase by needs.
Demand: COVID-19 continueS to affect demand, port inventory is overstocked, the industry is pessimistic, and the wood pulp market continues to be depressed and is difficult to reverse in the short term.
Industry: hardwood pulp: on May 12, the commodity index of hardwood pulp was 83.61, which was the same as that of the previous day, 39.35% lower than the highest point 137.86 (2017-11-13), and 3.73% higher than the lowest point 80.60 on December 25, 2019. (Note: cycle refers to 2012-11-30 to now)
Softwood pulp: on May 12, the commodity index of softwood pulp was 95.32, flat with that of the previous day, 37.33% lower than the highest point 152.11 (2017-11-08), and 5.55% higher than the lowest point 90.31 on December 16, 2019. (Note: cycle refers to 2013-09-01 till now)
Wood pulp analysts believe that, COVID-19 continues to affect purchasing demand, and the pulp market is difficult to reverse in the short term.
