SunSirs: Plastics, Changes in National PE Production in China

In the first half of 2019, the total national supply of PE increased by about 14% year on year. The national output increased by 12% and the import amount increased by 17%. 

In the second half of 2019, China Safety United Coal Chemical Co., Ltd were put into operation in August. On the other hand, Baofeng energy Co., Ltd plans to start the second phase of 300000 t / a year HDPE and LLDPE plants in the second half of 2019.

In addition, CNOOC, Shell Petrochemical and Yan'an energy's PE projects, launched last year, will increase domestic production by 5% over the previous year. However, this is only part of the capacity release. According to the published statistics, there are 4 PE plants completed in 2019, with a planned production capacity of 600000 tons. Besides, 11 PE plants will be completed in 2020, with a planned production capacity of 3.375 million tons. Plus, 4 will be completed in 2021, with a planned production capacity of 1.02 million tons. China is aimed at replacing the United States as the main driver of PE capacity expansion.
