December 03 2021 13:15:55SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to data from SunSirs’ bulk list, the price trend of TDI in East China continued to decline in November. The average price of TDI in the market at the beginning of the month was 15,500 RMB/ton, and the average price of TDI at the end of the month was 14,350 RMB/ton, a decrease of 7.42% during the month. As of November 30, the reference price of domestic goods with invoices was around 13,800-14,000 RMB/ton, and the reference price of Shanghai goods with invoices was around 14,000-14,200 RMB/ton.

Analysis review

The TDI market performed weakly in November, and the price continued to drop during the month. Domestic factory installations were running smoothly and normally, suppliers had no inventory pressure, downstream demand continued to be weak, there were fewer inquiries in the market and the market trading atmosphere was average. Holders waited and watched the market, the focus of negotiation continued to shift downward, and the offer continued to decrease during the month.

The upstream toluene market fluctuated downward, and the price in November was lowered to 66,170.00 RMB/ton, an overall decrease of 7.78% from the beginning of the month. Affected by the fluctuation of international crude oil prices, the support from the cost side had weakened, which had dragged down the mentality of the toluene market. The demand side had continued to be weak, coupled with the continuous downward impact of mixed xylene, the price of toluene had continued to fall.

Market outlook

According to the analysis of the TDI data engineer of SunSirs, the current TDI market is weak and the supply-side factories have no inventory pressure for the time being, downstream demand are just from the downstream on demand, and the new order transactions are weak. On the other hand, it is learned from the market that Covestro and Wanhua Fujian may have maintenance plans in December. It is expected that the decline of the TDI market will slow down, and the market outlook will be sorted out, with specific attention to downstream follow-up.
