SunSirs: China's Rare Earth Market is Mainly Stable, A Few Light Rare Earths Go up
May 13 2020 09:18:27SunSirs(Linda)

The rare earth index on May 12 was 331 points, which was the same as May 11 and was 66.90% lower than the highest point in the cycle (2011-December-06). It was 22.14% higher than the lowest point of 271 points on September 13, 2015. (Note: Period refers to 2011-December-01 to present).

The average price of neodymium metal in rare earth metals was 354,500 yuan / ton; the average price of metal dysprosium was 2.325 million yuan / ton; the average price of metal praseodymium was 635,000 yuan / ton. The average price of praseodymium and neodymium oxide in rare earth oxides increased by 2,000 yuan / ton to 268,500 yuan / ton; the price of dysprosium oxide was 1.77 million yuan / ton; the average price of praseodymium oxide was 305,000 yuan / ton; the average price of neodymium oxide was 280,000 yuan / ton. The price of praseodymium and neodymium alloys in rare earth alloys increased by 2,000 yuan / ton to 338,000 yuan / ton; the average price of dysprosium iron alloys was 1.775 million yuan / ton.

In the rare earth market, the trend of rare earth prices is mainly stable. The prices of praseodymium and neodymium oxide have increased slightly. The domestic heavy rare earth market is normally supplied. Myanmar has unilaterally closed customs clearance ports. However, domestic manufacturers have started construction normally, domestic supply is normal, and the domestic heavy rare earth prices have stabilized temporarily. Recently, the demand for permanent magnets is average. The market trend of praseodymium and neodymium products has risen slightly, and the supply in the market is normal. The recent demand for light rare earth is normal, and the prices in some markets are mainly stable. In addition, the recent foreign health incidents have had a greater impact, the export volume of rare earth products has declined, and the price trend of the rare earth market has stabilized. The price fluctuations in the rare earth market are related to environmental protection inspections nationwide. The production of rare earths is special, especially because some products have radiation hazards, which has made environmental protection regulations more stringent. Under strict environmental protection investigations, manufacturers reasonably control sales, but recent downstream demand is normal, and prices of some rare earths have risen slightly.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said that by 2025, the sales of new energy vehicles and new vehicles will account for about 25%. Global electrification is entering the acceleration period of high-quality supply-side models. China's double-point policy and European carbon emission requirements have established a long-term development mechanism for new energy vehicles. Driven by national policies, the supply and demand pattern of the rare earth industry is expected to further improve, China's domestic demand has improved, and the price of heavy rare earth in the domestic rare earth market remains high. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the "Notice on Doing a Good Job in Implementing the Policy for Benefiting Enterprises in the Rare Earth Industry", saying that the Rare Earth Office entrusted the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association and China Rare Earth Industry Association to sort out and summarize the policy documents suitable for the declaration of rare earth companies, forming Compilation of Related Support Policies. Rare earth companies should actively connect with China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association and China Rare Earth Industry Association to obtain relevant policy information, accurately grasp the requirements of the declaration, strive for policy support, promote the smooth operation of the rare earth industry chain, and jointly promote the stable and healthy development of the industry.

Recently, the background pattern of weak downstream demand in the rare earth market has not changed. The price of praseodymium neodymium oxide and metals has risen mainly because downstream companies just need to purchase. SunSirs rare earth analysts expect that the price of praseodymium and neodymium will face lower risks after the purchase is completed. Normal, downstream demand is general, and the market price of heavy rare earth may remain stable.
