SunSirs: Japan's Avian Influenza Epidemic Drives Up Egg Prices
December 25 2025 10:52:26     SunSirs (Selena)
On December 24th, the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries announced that genetic testing results confirmed a highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak at a farm in Kyoto Prefecture. This is the 9th outbreak of avian influenza in Japan during this season.
The avian influenza epidemic has led to poultry culling, reduced egg supply, and an expected increase in spot prices. Based on futures data, the main egg contract, such as 2605, closed at 3,541 RMB (up 9 RMB). The news of the epidemic will intensify market concerns about supply shortages, strengthen bullish sentiment, and push futures prices further upward.
