SunSirs: Color Coated Steel Sheet Prices Remained Stable This Week (December 15-19)

According to SunSirs' commodity price analysis system, the price of color coated steel sheets remained stable this week. On December 15th, the market price of color coated steel sheets was 6,350 RMB/ton, and on December 19th, the price was also 6,350 RMB/ton. The price remained stable compared to last week and decreased by 7.29% compared to the same period last year.

Market Analysis

Galvanized steel sheet: This week, the price of galvanized steel sheets experienced a slight decline. On Friday (December 19th), the price of galvanized steel sheets was 4,107 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.749% compared to last week and a decrease of 6.87% compared to the same period last year. Downstream demand in the coated steel market remained lukewarm, resulting in weak market transactions.

Market Forecast:

This week, the supply of the five major steel product categories totaled 7.9797 million tons, a decrease of 82,500 tons (1%) compared to the previous week; total inventory was 12.9478 million tons, a decrease of 373,100 tons (2.8%) compared to the previous week; and consumption was 8.3528 million tons, a decrease of 0.5%. Specifically, consumption of construction materials increased by 2.4% week-on-week, while consumption of plate steel decreased by 2%.

Considering the approaching off-season, although most factories are facing continuously rising costs, they are maintaining their shipping intentions, and quoted prices remain firm at high levels. This week, most domestic plants are operating normally, but production and sales are not yet balanced, resulting in a slight increase in inventory. Therefore, color coated steel sheet prices are expected to remain relatively stable in the short term.
