SunSirs: China's Net Crude Steel Exports Rise 20.6% Year-on-Year in Jan-Sep

In September 2025, China exported 1.496 million tons of primary products (steel billets, pig iron, direct reduced iron, and recycled steel materials), marking a month-on-month decrease of 15.4%. The average export price stood at $439.2 per ton, remaining largely unchanged from the previous month.

From January to September, China's cumulative exports of primary products reached 10.754 million tons, surging over twofold year-on-year. with an average export price of $446.3 per ton, down 11.9% year-on-year. The decline narrowed by 2.9 percentage points compared to the previous month.
In September, China imported 120,000 tons of primary products, a significant month-on-month increase of 70.2%. The average import price was $764.0 per ton, down 36.2% month-on-month.
From January to September, China imported a total of 1.203 million tons of primary products, down 47.8% year-on-year. The average import price was $825.3 per ton, down 3.1% year-on-year.
After offsetting imports and exports, China's net exports of crude steel equivalent reached 96.66 million tons from January to September, an increase of 16.51 million tons compared with the same period last year, representing a year-on-year growth of 20.6%.
