SunSirs: Due to Weak Costs, the Market Price of Polyamide Filament Continued to Decline Weakly

October 27 2025 10:15:23     SunSirs (John)

Price trend

Last week (October 20-24, 2025), the center of polyamide PA6 chips upstream of polyamide filament moved downward, the support on the cost side weakened, the supply in the market was sufficient, and the inventory level continued to increase. In addition, the terminal demand was weak, and the downstream manufacturers had little willingness to purchase. The negative factors in the market prevailed, and the market price of polyamide filament continued to fall.

According to the SunSirs commodity market analysis system, polyamide filament prices declined last week (October 20-24, 2025). As of October 24, 2025, polyamide filament DTY (premium grade; 70D/24F) in Jiangsu Province was quoted at 13,560 RMB/ton, down 100 RMB/ton from the same period of the previous week, a weekly decrease of 0.73%. polyamide POY (premium grade; 86D/24F) was quoted at 11,300 RMB/ton, down 100 RMB/ton from the same period of the previous week, a weekly decrease of 0.88%. polyamide FDY (premium grade: 40D/12F) was quoted at 14,175 RMB/ton, down 150 RMB/ton from the same period of the previous week, a weekly decrease of 1.05%.

Analysis review

Costs: Last week (October 20-24, 2025), caprolactam spot market prices continued to decline, with Sinopec's weekly caprolactam settlement price at 8,710 RMB/ton (six-month acceptance, interest-free). The polyamide PA6 chips market remained weak, with prices falling slightly, and cost support remained weak. As of October 24, 2025, the SunSirs caprolactam benchmark price was 8,403 RMB/ton, a slight decline of 0.67% for the week. polyamide PA6 chips also saw a weak price decline in the high-speed spinning market, falling 2.33% for the week, with cost support remaining weak.

Supply and Demand: polyamide filament manufacturers maintained sufficient supply throughout the week, but industry inventory levels continued to increase. Some companies experienced queues of orders, but overall activity was far below the same period last year. Overall, weak market demand led to increasing inventory pressure at polyamide manufacturers. Supply-side performance was poor; end-market demand was weak, and some downstream manufacturers reduced or switched production, reducing demand for polyamide filament. Favorable support on the demand side was difficult to find, and most industry players maintained a cautious wait-and-see approach, focusing on just-in-time demand.

Market outlook

Cost side: As for caprolactam, benzene is expected to be weak, and chip manufacturers are not very enthusiastic about purchasing caprolactam. It is expected that the caprolactam market will be mainly consolidated weakly at low levels in the short term; as for polyamide PA6 chips, the cost side has limited support, the supply level of PA6 chips market may continue to increase, and the downstream market demand is weak. It is expected that the market price of polyamide PA6 chips will fall weakly.

Supply and Demand: While October is traditionally peak season, the distinction between peak and off-season has become less pronounced in recent years, and trading sentiment remains predominantly weak. Therefore, sluggish demand for polyamide filament is expected to persist next month. However, under inventory pressures as of October 24, some polyamide filament manufacturers may reduce their production capacity. Furthermore, with the industry continuing to release new production capacity, overall supply pressure remains relatively high.

On the whole, the spot market of upstream raw material caprolactam and polyamide PA6 chips will continue to operate in a weak position, with a lack of support on the cost side and relatively high supply pressure. It is difficult for the downstream market demand to improve significantly, and it will mainly follow up on demand. The contradiction between supply and demand is prominent, and there is no good news. Analysts of SunSirs predict that the polyamide filament market will continue to be stable at a low level in the short term, with prices mainly consolidating in a weak position.
