SunSirs: Textile and Clothing Exports in September Were $24.42 Billion, Down 8% from the Previous Month

According to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs, textile and apparel exports totaled $24.42 billion, down 1.4% year-on-year, a decrease of 3.6 percentage points from the previous month. Apparel exports totaled $12.45 billion, down 8%, a decrease of 2.1 percentage points from the previous month. In contrast, textile exports increased by 6.5% to $11.97 billion, demonstrating strong resilience. From January to September, cumulative textile and apparel exports totaled $221.69 billion, a slight year-on-year decrease of 0.3%, demonstrating overall stability.

Textile and clothing exports in RMB: From January to September 2025, the cumulative export of textiles and clothing reached 1,591 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.6% (the same below). Of this total, textile exports reached 764.15 billion yuan, a 3% increase, while clothing exports reached 826.85 billion yuan, a 1.6% decrease. In September, textile and clothing exports reached 174.31 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 0.6% and a month-on-month decrease of 8.2%. Of this total, textile exports reached 85.42 billion yuan, a 7.3% increase and a month-on-month decrease of 3.7%, while clothing exports reached 88.89 billion yuan, a 7.2% decrease and a month-on-month decrease of 12.2%.

Textile and apparel exports in US dollars: From January to September 2025, cumulative textile and apparel exports reached $221.69 billion, a decrease of 0.3%. Of this total, textile exports reached $106.48 billion, up 2.1%, and apparel exports reached $115.21 billion, down 2.5%. In September, textile and apparel exports reached $24.42 billion, down 1.4%, or 8% month-on-month. Of this total, textile exports reached $11.97 billion, up 6.5%, or 3.4% month-on-month, and apparel exports reached $12.45 billion, down 8%, or 12% month-on-month.
