SunSirs: China's Naphtha Imports Reach 1.5722 Million Metric Tons in August
October 14 2025 10:01:39     Customs data indicates that China's naphtha imports in August 2025 reached 1.5722 million metric tons, a decrease of 137,800 metric tons from the previous month, representing an 8.06% decline. Cumulative imports from January to August 2025 totaled 10.8731 million metric tons, an increase of 235,850 metric tons compared to the same period last year, marking a 27.70% rise.
Additionally, in the first half of this year, Taiwan's monthly average imports of Russian naphtha surged to nearly six times the 2022 average, with import value reaching $1.3 billion. Since February 2022, Taiwan has imported $4.9 billion worth of Russian naphtha, accounting for 20% of Russia's total exports, making it the “world's largest buyer.”
This indicates robust growth in naphtha demand across the Asian market, particularly with Taiwan emerging as the world's largest buyer. This reflects surging regional demand and shifts in the supply chain. The significant increase in demand may lead to tight spot supply, driving up spot naphtha prices.
As an integrated internet platform providing benchmark prices, on October 14, the SunSirs naphtha benchmark price stood at 7,411.50 RMB per ton, down 0.17% from the beginning of the month (7,424.00 RMB per ton).
