SunSirs: Sodium Bicarbonate Prices Were Fluctuating Last Week (September 22-26)

According to the SunSirs commodity market analysis system, the average market price of sodium bicarbonate was 1,248 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 1,245 RMB/ton at the weekend, a 0.24% decrease and a 23.32% drop compared to the same period last year.

On September 25th, the SunSirs sodium bicarbonate Index was 82.63 points, unchanged from the previous day, hitting a new low within the cycle and down 64.96% from the peak of 235.84 points on November 10, 2021. (Note: The cycle refers to the period from September 1, 2020 to the present.)

Analysis review

According to the SunSirs commodity analysis system, sodium bicarbonate prices were consolidating, and companies were shipping reasonably well. Sodium bicarbonate prices were weak in Henan Province, with ex-factory prices ranging from 1,150 to 1,250 RMB/ton in Henan Province and 1,200 to 1,300 RMB/ton in Shandong Province. As downstream buyers were primarily purchasing on demand, consolidation is expected in the later periods.

Upstream: According to the SunSirs commodity analysis system, soda ash prices were consolidating last week. The average market price at the beginning of the week was 1,188 RMB/ton, and the average price at the weekend was 1,186 RMB/ton, a 0.17% increase and a 26.52% decrease compared to the same period last year. Downstream buyers were primarily purchasing on demand.

Market outlook

SunSirs’ analysts believe that sodium bicarbonate prices have been fluctuating recently, with upstream raw material soda ash experiencing a period of consolidation. Downstream sectors such as pharmaceuticals, textiles, and food were primarily purchasing on-demand, indicating reasonable demand. Sodium bicarbonate prices are expected to mainly fluctuate in the coming period, depending on downstream market demand.
