SunSirs: China's Acetone Exports Continued to Grow from January to July 2025
September 12 2025 09:19:02     SunSirs (John)In 2025, the profits of domestic and foreign phenolic ketone companies were in a long-term loss state. The equipment in South Korea, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia and other countries and regions were all under maintenance. In addition, the domestic acetone price fell in the second quarter, which inevitably attracted the attention of exporters and boosted the export volume year-on-year, with an increase of 41.28%.
China's acetone export destinations are relatively dispersed in 2025, with significant shifts in key destinations. While Japan accounted for the majority of Chinese acetone exports in 2024, Thailand holds the top spot this year. Customs export data shows that from January to July 2025, China exported acetone to 48 countries and regions, with Thailand, Japan, Peru, and Taiwan accounting for a combined 58.05% of total exports, or half of the total. Furthermore, exports to 44 other countries and regions accounted for 41.95% of the total.
Acetone Export Forecast for 2025: New phenol-acetone plants have come online in South Korea and India, increasing international export competition. Some countries will likely clear inventory early in the fourth quarter, which will inevitably impact export prices. With domestic acetone supply increasing and prices remaining low, capturing international market share has become essential for acetone exports.
