SunSirs: U.S. and Brazilian Cotton Harvest Progress

According to the USDA Crop Progress Report, as of Sunday (September 7), the percentage of U.S. cotton bolls opening reached 97% (up from 90% last week, compared to a five-year average of 97%). The percentage of cotton bolls opening reached 40% (up from 28% last week, compared to a five-year average of 39%). Cotton harvest progress stood at 8% (compared to a five-year average of 6%); The percentage of cotton in good to excellent condition was 54%, up from 51% a week earlier and compared to 40% last year at this time.

Brazil's National Supply Company (CONAB) reported that as of Saturday (September 6), the country's cotton harvest progress reached 86.9%, up from 72.8% a week earlier. This compares to 95.6% last year at this time and a five-year average of 94.2%.
