September 09 2025 09:50:24
Data released Monday by China's General Administration of Customs showed that the country's copper concentrate imports increased for the second straight month in August, primarily driven by accelerated exports from a major Indonesian mine ahead of its export license expiring later this month.
Customs data indicated that China imported 2.76 million metric tons of copper concentrate in August, an 8% increase from July's 2.56 million tons.
In Indonesia, Freeport-McMoRan rushed shipments to meet its export permit deadline on September 16. The company stated last month it expected to export 90% of its 1.27 million-ton quota before the cutoff, having already reached 65% by mid-August.
From January to August this year, China's total copper concentrate imports reached 20.05 million tons, surpassing the 18.59 million tons recorded during the same period last year.
As an integrated internet platform providing benchmark prices, on September 9, the benchmark copper price of SunSirs was 79,893.33 RMB/ton, up 0.62% from the beginning of this month (79,401.67 RMB/ton).
