SunSirs: Supply Increased, and the Price of Isooctanol Fluctuated and Fell in August

September 02 2025 15:36:40     SunSirs (John)

The price of isooctanol fluctuated and fell in August

According to the SunSirs commodity market analysis system, as of August 29, the price of isooctanol was 7,283.33 RMB/ton, a 3.32% decrease from the 7,533.33 RMB/ton on August 1. In August, isooctanol plant operating rates increased, rising from less than 80% in July to 95% by the end of the month. This, coupled with new isooctanol production capacity, increased supply. Downstream plasticizer manufacturers maintained high operating levels, and demand for isooctanol from plasticizers rebounded. This increased supply and demand led to a volatile decline in isooctanol prices in August.

Downstream plasticizer DOP prices fluctuated and fell

According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the price of downstream plasticizer DOP was 7,617.50 RMB/ton as of August 29, a 4.25% decrease compared to the DOP price of 7,955.83 RMB/ton on August 1. DOP prices fluctuated downward in August, increasing downward pressure on the price of the raw material isooctanol. DOP companies consolidated at a high operating load in August, and DOP production increased in August, which led to a rebound in isooctanol demand, maintaining support for the price increase of isooctanol.

Market outlook

Octanol product data analysts of SunSirs believe that on the supply side, increased production capacity at isooctanol plants and the commissioning of new isooctanol production capacity have significantly increased isooctanol supply. On the demand side, DOP prices have fluctuated downward, increasing downward pressure on isooctanol prices. Looking ahead, with both supply and demand increasing, isooctanol prices are expected to consolidate weakly.
