Last week, the price of isooctanol fell sharply 

According to the SunSirs commodity market analysis system, as of August 15, the price of isooctanol was 7,376.67 RMB/ton, a 0.76% decrease from the 7,433.33 RMB/ton on August 8. Last week, the price of isooctanol rebounded, halting its decline. In August, isooctanol plants resumed operations, with the utilization rate rising to nearly 90%. This, coupled with new isooctanol production capacity, increased supply. Downstream plasticizer plants were operating at a high and stable level, driving increased demand for isooctanol. This combined supply and demand led to a volatile decline in the price of isooctanol.

Downstream plasticizer DOP prices fluctuated and fell

According to the SunSirs Commodity Market Analysis System, as of August 15th, the price of DOP was 7,759.16 RMB/ton, a 0.96% decrease from the price of 7,834.16 RMB/ton on August 8th. Last week, most DOP plants that had been previously shut down returned to normal, and DOP plants were operating at a high and stable rate. With DOP operating rates high last week, sufficient plasticizer production and increased demand for isooctanol were supporting the upward trend in isooctanol prices.

Last week, the operating rate of DOP enterprises increased, and the operating rate remained stable at 67%. The output of plasticizers increased, the demand for isooctanol increased, and the support for the price increase of isooctanol still existed.

Market outlook

Analysts of SunSirs believe that on the demand side, last week saw an increase in DOP equipment production at plasticizer companies, leading to a rebound in isooctanol demand and continued support for isooctanol's upward trend. On the supply side, increased equipment production at isooctanol companies, coupled with the commissioning of new isooctanol production capacity, also boosted isooctanol supply. Overall, with both supply and demand increasing and isooctanol inventory accumulating, isooctanol prices are expected to stop falling and rebound in the future.
