On August 6, soda ash prices in central China were adjusted. Light soda ash was quoted at around 1,200-1,300 RMB/ton, a 5 RMB/ton decrease from August 1. Heavy soda ash was quoted at around 1,250-1,400 RMB/ton, a 50 RMB/ton decrease from August 1. Supply-side capacity utilization was high, and soda ash supply was plentiful. However, downstream glass prices declined, market entry enthusiasm was low, and shipments were limited. The soda ash market in central China was temporarily experiencing a period of weaker consolidation.
On August 6, soda ash prices in North China remained stable, with light soda ash quoted at around 1,250-1,300 RMB/ton, a 50 RMB/ton increase on July 28. Heavy soda ash prices were quoted at around 1,350-1,450 RMB/ton, a 50 RMB/ton increase on July 28. Supply-side capacity utilization was high, soda ash inventories were ample, downstream glass prices declined, and the market trading atmosphere was generally tepid. Soda ash companies were primarily active in shipping, leading to a stable, wait-and-see approach in the short term for soda ash prices in North China.
