Ethylene glycol prices were strong in July and fell slightly at the end of the month
In July, ethylene glycol prices initially rose before falling, forming an inverted "V" pattern. Initially, driven by anti-involution sentiment and an upward trend in commodity prices, ethylene glycol prices steadily rose.
Based on fundamentals, in mid-July, market rumors circulated that ethylene glycol prices were affected by Zhejiang Petrochemical's EG load reduction, issues with Shenghong's CDU, unscheduled maintenance at Shell in Singapore, delayed shipments from Saudi Arabia, satellite operations for PE but not EG in August, and the suspension of another cracker line at Satellite in August. These factors generated relatively positive expectations for ethylene glycol supply. Combined with low port inventory data and a sharp rebound in raw coal prices, these factors contributed to a significant increase in ethylene glycol prices.
