SunSirs: Seamless Tube Prices Rose Slightly in July

According to SunSirs data, seamless tube prices rose slightly in July. At the beginning of the month, the price of 20#, 108*4.5 seamless tube was 4,055 RMB/ton, and rose to 4,085 RMB/ton at the end of the month, an increase of 0.74% and a year-on-year decrease of 8.66%.

Analysis review

Raw material: The fourth round of price increases and reductions of 50-55 RMB/ton for coke had been fully implemented, weakening cost support.

Supply: By the end of the month, social inventories of seamless tubes stood at 10,000 tons, a month-on-month increase of 2,900 tons. Due to news of production restrictions in Tangshan at the beginning of the month, the overall upstream market sentiment was positive. Some tube mills reduced their maintenance schedules, slowing market supply. This provided some support for seamless tube prices.

On the demand side, as the traditional off-season deepened, sales pressure was increasing. Furthermore, stricter vehicle emissions regulations in some regions had restricted vehicle transportation. Overall fundamentals were weak, and shipments were under pressure during the traditional off-season. The driving force of the finished product market remained insufficient, and market confidence lacked sustainability.

In terms of exports: In June 2025, China exported 471,700 tons of seamless tubes, a decrease of 14.45% month-on-month and 9.04% year-on-year; from January to June, China's cumulative exports of seamless tubes were 2.9323 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.27%.

Future outlook:

In summary, the strong performance of raw material prices became the main driving force of the seamless tube spot market. However, due to the recent high temperatures and reduced outdoor working time, demand had also been somewhat suppressed. Overall, seamless tube prices may be mainly stronger in the short term.
