According to EU data, the import volume of palm oil in the EU decreased by 53% year-on-year in 2025/26, reflecting the long-term constraint of the EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED II) on palm oil demand. The import volume from major supply countries has all declined.
As of July 20, 2025, the European Union imported 27,000 tons of palm oil from Indonesia in the 2024/25 fiscal year (July to June of the following year), which is lower than the 57,000 tons imported in the same period last year. But the share increased from 28.4% to 29.8%.
