SunSirs: China Coking Coal Market Continued to Operate weakly Last Week (June 16-20)

Last week, the coking coal market continued to operate weakly. According to the monitoring system of SunSirs, as of June 20th, the price index of SunSirs's coking coal was 1,221.25 RMB/ton, a decrease of -7.55% from the beginning of the month.
On the supply side: Coal mine production in the region is normal, with an increase in output, and the supply side remains high. Overall market resources are still relatively abundant.
On the demand side: Last week, the production of molten iron in steel plants increased slightly, which provided some support for the rigid demand for coking coal, but the overall supply and demand pattern has not improved. After the fourth round of coke price increase and decrease, downstream coke and steel enterprises have insufficient follow-up in purchasing raw materials to replenish inventory, and mainly adopt a wait-and-see attitude in their procurement of essential needs. Part of the coking coal in the port sector has dropped by 20 RMB/ton. It is expected that the market situation will remain stable in the near future.
According to analysts from SunSirs, the supply side of coking coal in the current market remains high. However, the overall downstream demand is insufficient, with a focus on essential procurement and a strong wait-and-see attitude. Overall, the supply and demand transmission in the coking coal market is not smooth, and it is expected that the coking coal market will mainly operate weakly and steadily in the later stage. More attention still needs to be paid to the supply and demand situation and the transaction of building materials.
