The price of plasticizer DOP fluctuated and fell in January

According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, as of January 31st, the price of DOP was 11,770 RMB/ton, a fluctuating decrease of 2.66% compared to the price of 12,091.67 RMB/ton on January 1st. The price of raw material 2-EH was discounted for sales, and the cost of plasticizer DOP decreased. In January, DOP prices fluctuated and fell.

According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, as of January 31st, the quotation for 2-EH was 12,350 RMB/ton, a fluctuating decrease of 4.63% compared to the quotation for 2-EH on January 1st, which was 12,950 RMB/ton. In December, Qilu Petrochemical's 2-EH equipment was shut down due to an accident, and the price of 2-EH skyrocketed. At the beginning of the month, the price of 2-EH remained high, and the supply of 2-EH exceeded the demand. 2-EH manufacturers offered discounts to sell, causing the price of 2-EH to fluctuate and fall; As the Spring Festival approaching, plasticizer manufacturers were stocking up, the price of 2-EH had stopped falling, raw material support had weakened, and DOP prices had fallen. With 2-EH stopping its decline, DOP had some upward support.

Market outlook

SunSirs’ plasticizer product data analysts believe that in January, the raw material 2-EH fluctuated and fell, and the cost support for plasticizer DOP was insufficient, increasing the downward pressure on DOP. In the future, as the Spring Festival approaches and inventory increases, coupled with the rebound in raw material prices, it is expected that DOP prices will slightly increase in the future.
