SunSirs: The Market for ECH Was Light and Stable (December 12-17)

Recently, the market for ECH had been mainly stable, and the market atmosphere was light. According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, as of December 17th, the average price quoted by ECH enterprises was 8,150.00 RMB/ton, which was unchanged from the price on Monday (December 11th).

Price influencing factors:

Cost side: According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the domestic propylene (Shandong) market had slightly increased recently (12.11-12.15), with an average price of 6,968 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 7,010 RMB/ton at the end of the week, with a weekly increase of 0.61%. The price of raw material glycerol was mainly stable, and the impact of cost on the ECH market was not significant.

Supply and demand side: Recently, some factories in Jiangsu, Shandong, and other regions had restarted their facilities, leading to an increase in spot supply in the market. Factory delivery contracts were the main focus, and inventory on the supply side was not under pressure. However, the demand side had a weak intention to replenish demand, mainly due to weak downstream epoxy resin operations. The mentality towards raw material procurement was cautious, and some companies in the market were offering low prices under shipment pressure, resulting in a light market atmosphere.

Market outlook

Analysts from SunSirs believe that the cost impact was limited, and supply side support still existed. However, the demand side was weak, and it is expected that the market for ECH may remain stagnant and operate on a wait-and-see basis in the short term.
