SunSirs: Peru's Annual Copper Production is Expected to Reach 2.8 Million Tons in 2023

According to the statistics of the Peruvian Ministry of Mines, Peru's copper production in the first eight months accumulated to 1.77 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 18.1%.

At present, the largest copper mine in Peru is Cerro Verde, with a production of 317629 tons in the first eight months, a year-on-year increase of 6.9%. The mine is owned by Freeport McMoRan, an American company.

The Antamina copper mine ranks second, with a cumulative production of 274285 tons in the first 8 months. Due to the decrease in ore grade, there has been a significant year-on-year change in production.

In addition, Southern Copper, which operates Cuajone and Toquepala copper mines, ranks third, with a cumulative production of 237329 tons in the first eight months, an increase of 11.9% year-on-year.

Quellaveco copper mine produced 196141 tons in the first eight months, making it the fourth largest copper mine in Peru. The mine has produced a total of 290000 tons of copper in the 11 months since its production in December last year. The expected annual production is 310000 to 350000 tons.

The Las Bambas copper mine produced 194797 tons in the first 8 months, making it the fifth largest copper mine in Peru.
