According to the Commodity Analysis System of SunSirs, the domestic hydrochloric acid market price slightly increased this week, with the average market price rising from 170.00 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week to 175.00 RMB/ton at the weekend, an increase of 2.94%. The weekend price had increased by 9.38% year-on-year.

On October 15th, the hydrochloric acid commodity index was 46.05 points, unchanged from the previous day, a decrease of 66.60% from the cycle's highest point of 137.89 points (2021-10-26), and an increase of 156.12% from the lowest point of 17.98 points on September 5th, 2012. (Note: The cycle refers to the period from September 1st, 2011 to the present)

Upstream support was average, while downstream demand was good

From the supply side perspective, the domestic hydrochloric acid market prices had slightly increased this week, and manufacturers' inventory was average. The weekend quotation for Shanxi Wenshui hydrochloric acid was 330 RMB/ton, which was temporarily stable compared to the beginning of the week; Liaocheng Huatong's quotation for hydrochloric acid over the weekend was 70 RMB/ton, which was temporarily stable compared to the beginning of the week; The weekend quotation for hydrochloric acid from Shijiazhuang ZhiJian was 200 RMB/ton, an increase of 20 RMB/ton compared to the beginning of the week; The weekend quotation for Xiangcheng San'an’s hydrochloric acid was 100 RMB/ton, which was temporarily stable compared to the beginning of the week.

From the perspective of the upstream and downstream industrial chain of hydrochloric acid, the upstream liquid chlorine market recently saw a consolidation at high levels, with average cost support. The downstream market price of PAC slightly increased, with the market price rising from 1,726.25 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week to 1,732.50 RMB/ton at the weekend, an increase of 0.36%. The weekend price was decreased by 14.13% year-on-year.

Market outlook

In late October, the market price of hydrochloric acid may fluctuate and fall mainly. The upstream liquid chlorine market recently consolidated at a high level, with average cost support. The downstream ammonium chloride and PAC markets had shown a downward trend, and downstream purchasing willingness had weakened. Analysts from SunSirs believe that in the near future, the market for hydrochloric acid will mainly experience slight fluctuations and declines.
