SunSirs: The Bromine Prices Increased Overall in August

Price trend

According to monitoring data from the bulk list of SunSirs, the overall price of bromine rose in August. At the beginning of the month, the average market price of bromine was 20,400 RMB/ton. On August 30th, the average market price of bromine was 24,700 RMB/ton, with a price increase of 21.08% and a year-on-year decrease of 52.5%.

On August 29th, the bromine commodity index was 86.67 points, a decrease of 0.35 points from the previous day, a decrease of 64.65% from the cycle's highest point of 245.18 points (2021-10-27), and an increase of 47.10% from the lowest point of 58.92 points on October 29th, 2014. Analysis review

The trend of bromine prices was upward overall this month. At the beginning of the month, the main reason for the increase in bromine prices was that with the arrival of the rainy season in July and August, seawater bromine manufacturers reduced production, bromine production decreased, and supply decreased by about one-third. Data showed that the operating rate of bromine enterprises was less than 70%, with a month on month decrease of about 9.8%. In early July, bromine manufacturers continued to tentatively increase the price of bromine due to a decrease in production. However, downstream flame retardants and pesticide intermediates remained resistant to the rising price of bromine, and bromine companies were reluctant to sell. Bromine prices continued to rise. However, at the end of the month, the supply of bromine prices tended to stabilize, and downstream purchases were more on demand. It is expected that bromine will mainly consolidate and operate in the future.

Regarding sulfur: The overall price of sulfur rose in August. At the beginning of the month, the average market price was 853.33 RMB/ton, and at the end of the month, the average market price was 1,076.67 RMB/ton, with a price increase of 26.17% and a year-on-year decrease of 7.08%. The operation of the sulfur refinery unit was normal, the market supply was stable, the downstream phosphate fertilizer market was improving, the demand side continued to be positive, and the refinery shipment was smooth. It is expected that the short-term sulfur market will continue to be stronger, and specific attention should be paid to the downstream follow-up situation in the future.

Market outlook

Analysts from SunSirs believe that the price of bromine recently rose this month and was maintaining a consolidation operation. The support from downstream flame retardant and intermediate industries of bromine was general. Overall, it is expected that the price of bromine will consolidate in the short term, depending on downstream market demand.
