According to data from SunSirs, seamless tubes rose first and then fell this week. As of the weekend, the price of seamless 20# and 108 * 4.5 pipes was quoted at 4,695 RMB/ton, an increase of 0.27% compared to the beginning of the week and a year-on-year decrease of 10.61%.
Analysis review
Upstream tube blanks had slightly increased this week. In the past two days, mining accidents had occurred frequently, and the prices of coking coal and coke continued to rise significantly, with coking coal rising by over 5% at one point. There were reports in Shanxi that some coke companies did not agree to an increase, and the increase in Henan had also been implemented on August 25, resulting in relatively strong prices for tube billets at various steel mills.
This week, the price of seamless tubes was mainly stable and slightly stronger. Some regions accepted a round of increased in coke prices in the spot market, while ore prices were high and showing an upward trend. Steel mills had limited profit margins, so they were interested in raising prices. In the past two days, the market had risen, traders replenished inventory at the end of the month and tube factory transactions slightly improved. However, the stimulation effect on the downstream seamless tube market was not significant, and the demand side performance was not ideal. The price of seamless tubes was weak to explore.
