SunSirs: EU's Forecast for Wheat, Corn, and Rapeseed Yields has been Lowered
August 23 2023 09:37:09     On Monday, the European Union's crop monitoring agency MARS released a monthly report, lowering its average yield forecast for soft wheat, corn, and rapeseed for the third consecutive month, citing frequent rainfall in northern Europe and heatwaves in the southern region of Europe.
MARS has lowered the yield of soft wheat per hectare in the 27 EU countries for 2023/24 to 5.78 tons, lower than the forecast of 5.80 tons per hectare last month.
The expected corn yield per hectare has been lowered to 7.45 tons per hectare, lower than the 7.53 tons per hectare predicted last month.
The expected yield of all barley remains unchanged at 4.74 tons per hectare, as the decrease in spring barley yield is offset by the increase in winter barley yield.
In terms of oilseeds, the rapeseed yield per hectare in the 27 EU countries has been reduced to 3.19 tons per hectare, lower than the 3.20 tons per hectare predicted in July.
