SunSirs: Costs Rise in July, China PS Prices First Fall and Later Rise

According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the average quotation for PS at the beginning of this month was 9,200 RMB/ton, and the average price for PS at the end of the month was 9,166 RMB/ton. The price decreased slightly by 0.36%, a decrease of 18.76% compared to the same period last year.

Zhenjiang Qimei PG33 reported 8,780 RMB/ton, Ningbo Taihua 535N reported 8,500-8,550 RMB/ton, Shanghai SECCO 123P reported 8,700 RMB/ton, Thai Petrochemical 150 reported 8,730-8,750 RMB/ton, Guangzhou Petrochemical 525 reported 8,550 RMB/ton, and Hong Kong Petrochemical 1841H reported 9,750 RMB/ton.

Styrene continues to rise, but the PS (polystyrene) market lacks momentum to keep up. In addition, the supply and demand side game has led to an increase in some material losses. Recently, some devices have experienced production cuts, and there is a strong wait-and-see sentiment on the market. The mainstream price of GPPS in the East China market is between 8,400 and 9,550 RMB/ton, while the mainstream price of HIPS (polystyrene) is between 9,000 and 9,800 RMB/ton.

The price of styrene upstream of PS has increased, and it is expected that in the short term, domestic PS (polystyrene) may experience a mainly fluctuating upward trend.
