SunSirs: On May 18th, the Price of Polysilicon Significantly Decreased

Analysis review

On May 18th, the domestic polysilicon market continued to decline. This week, the price of polysilicon significantly decreased, with a drop of 7.07% according to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs. On the one hand, the operating rate of silicon material manufacturers increased, new production capacity was released, and some maintenance devices were restored as scheduled, such as Xinte Energy, Asia Silicon Industry, Dongfang Hope, Leshan, Baotou GCL, and Baotou Daquan. The shipment volume of silicon materials increased. On the other hand, due to the generally low operating rate of downstream silicon wafers, the shipment volume of silicon materials significantly decreased. The oversupply led to a sharp drop in silicon material prices. As of the 18th, the mainstream price range for single crystal dense materials with a model of primary solar energy level remained between 135,000 to 150,000 RMB/ton.

Market outlook

Recently, there was an oversupply in the silicon material market, and downstream silicon wafer production was expected to weaken. Demand was relatively weak. It is expected that there is still room for polysilicon prices to decline.
