The dichloromethane market rose sharply in February. According to the data monitoring of the SunSirs, as of February 28, the price of dichloromethane in Shandong was 2,610 RMB/ton, up 12.86% from 2,312 RMB/ton at the end of January. On the one hand, the manufacturers had successively shut down for maintenance or reduced the load, and the pressure of dichloromethane supply surface had been greatly reduced; On the other hand, the downstream construction started to pick up, and the manufacturers continued to replenish, and the demand had support for dichloromethane; Good supply and demand pushed up the price of dichloromethane significantly.

Analysis review

Dongying Huatai and Guangxi Jinyi, with a total of 460,000 tons/year of methane chloride units, were shut down in mid-February; Jiangsu Fuqiang 300,000 t/a methane chloride unit was operated at reduced load at the end of February; The Dawang plant area of the 440,000 t/a methane chloride plant of Jinling was reduced to 50% load in late February, and planned to shut down in early March. In February, the pressure of domestic methane chloride supply decreased significantly.

In February, the price of raw material methanol fell slightly, while the cost of dichloromethane fell slightly. According to the SunSirs, the spot price of methanol was 2,743 RMB/ton as of February 28, down 1.32% from the price of 2,780 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month.

After the Spring Festival, the downstream demand gradually warmed up, which had more support for dichloromethane. Refrigerant prices rose in February and were still in the recovery period of domestic and export demand. Refrigerant manufacturers replenished raw materials for the peak season in March. Pharmaceutical, diluent and other industries had begun to resume replenishment of raw materials.

Market outlook

According to the methane chloride data analyst of the SunSirs, the cost of dichloromethane still has support. In addition, the peak season of downstream refrigerant is approaching. It is expected that the market of dichloromethane will be high and firm in the later period.
