SunSirs: Propylene Oxide Market Prices Rose Slightly in August

According to the monitoring data of SunSirs, as of August 30, the average price of propylene oxide enterprises was 9,100.00 RMB/ton, an increase of 1.49% compared with the price on August 1, and a ,decrease of 21.78% in a three-month cycle. Compared with the same period last year, it fell by 43.24%.

Analysis review

The propylene oxide market fluctuated slightly in August. In the first half of the month, the raw material propylene fluctuated and fell slightly, the impact on the cost side was limited, and the north and south markets were differentiated. On the supply side, the inventory in the northern market was controllable, and the market was mainly running with supporting prices. In the southern market, the supply of goods was abundant, the negotiation sentiment was bearish, and the north-south pattern was stalemate. With the smooth delivery of the northern factory, the price rose without pressure. On the 15th, the mainstream quotation in the propylene oxide market in Shandong was around 9,100-9,200 RMB/ton. In the second half of the month, the price of raw material propylene fell first and then rose. The cost support was general, the demand side support was weak, the market shipments turned weak, the downstream purchases was cautious, and the price was stable with some loosening. The supply-side support was acceptable, the cost support was enhanced, and the market was running at a high price. Near the end of the month, there was no pressure on the supplier, and the market was running strongly. On the 30th, the mainstream quotation of the propylene oxide market in Shandong was around 9,400-9,500 RMB/ton.

Upstream propylene, according to the monitoring data of SunSirs, the domestic propylene (Shandong) market continued to fluctuate in August, and the price fell further. At the beginning of August, the average price of propylene in the market was 7,348 RMB/ton, and at the end of the month, the average price of propylene was 7,036 RMB/ton, a monthly decrease of 4.25%, and the lowest average price in the month was 6,834 RMB/ton.

Downstream propylene glycol, on August 29, the reference price of propylene glycol was 9,233.33 RMB/ton, an increase of 19.65% compared with August 1 (7,716.67 RMB/ton).

Market outlook
