According to the data of SunSirs, the chloroform market rose slightly this week (8.1-8.8). As of August 8, the price of chloroform bulk water in Shandong remained at 2,750 RMB/ton, an increase of 1.85% from last Monday.
Analysis review
In early August, the domestic supply of methane chloride continued to be loose. Jiangsu Lee & Man’s 160,000-ton/year methane chloride plant had a 100% load; Jiangxi Lee & Man’s 160,000-ton/year methane chloride unit had a 75% load; Jiangsu Meilan’s 200,000-ton/year methanol-based dichloromethane unit started at 80% load. Supply was bearish in the face of chloroform. However, on the one hand, the cost did not fall sharply again. In addition, the demand for refrigerants in high temperature weather was still supported.Chloroform companies tentatively raised the ex-factory price, and traders followed suit.
This week (8.1-8.8) methanol spot fluctuated to be weak, and the impact of the cost was weak. According to the understanding of SunSirs, as of August 8, the spot price of methanol was 2,537 RMB/ton, down 0.68% from 2,555 RMB/ton last Monday.
Affected by high temperature weather, the aftermarket demand for refrigerant R22 was supported. The overall start-up of R22 was stable at a low level, and the support for chloroform was mainly temporarily stable.
Market outlook
The methane chloride data analyst of SunSirs believes that the pressure on the domestic supply side is still there; with the arrival of high temperature weather, the demand for refrigerants will be supported to a certain extent. It is expected that chloroform will maintain a stable consolidation trend in a narrow range in the later period.
