Price trend

According to the data monitoring of SunSirs, as of January 28, 2022, the average ex-factory price of MEK in the domestic market was 12,400 yuan/ton. The price rose by 867 yuan / ton compared with the price on January 1 (the reference price of MEK was 11,533 yuan/ton), an increase of 7.52%.

Analysis review

It can be seen from the data monitoring chart of SunSirs that in early January, after returning from the New Year's Day, the domestic MEK market ushered in an upward trend. On January 4, under the support of the tight spot supply of MEK, the offer price of MEK factory rose strongly, with a single-day increase of around 200-300 yuan / ton. The spot on the market was scarce, and the supply pressure of the factory was small, and the price of MEK continued to rise. On January 10, the domestic ex-factory price of MEK rose to around 12,000-12,500 yuan / ton, an increase of 200-500 yuan / ton compared with the price at the beginning of the month. The MEK market rose to a high level, the downstream order receiving capacity was limited, and the actual order transaction was limited, and then the MEK market fell into a weak and declining stage. As of January 15, the domestic average ex-factory price of MEK was 12,133 yuan/ton, an increase of 5.20%.

In late January, the downstream stocking demand was acceptable, and the MEK market was temporarily stabilized. Near the Spring Festival holiday, most downstream terminals have been delisted, and some MEK holders are scarce in stock, and the offer remains firm. On the 27th and 28th, the MEK trading center rose slightly, with an increase of 100-200 yuan / ton. As of the 28th, the domestic average price of MEK was 12,400 yuan/ton, an increase of 2.20% in late January.

On the upstream side, the domestic liquefied gas market ushered in a good start in January, and the Shandong region rose significantly, showing a trend of twists and turns as a whole. According to the data monitoring of SunSirs, the average price of liquefied gas in the Shandong market was 5,090.00 yuan/ton on January 1, and the average price on January 26 was 5,560.00 yuan/ton. The increase in January was 9.23%, and an increase of 56.18% compared with the same period last year.

Market outlook

At present, the downstream stocking is basically over, the real orders of MEK follow up sporadically, and the trading atmosphere in the market is calm.
