SunSirs: Paraformaldehyde Continued to Weaken This Week (January 14-20)

Price trend

According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the average production price of paraformaldehyde in Shandong on January 20 was 5,533 RMB/ton, and the average production price of paraformaldehyde in Shandong on January 14 was 5,633 RMB/ton, down 1.78%.

Analysis review

On January 17, Linyi Shengyang Chemical Co., Ltd., with an annual output of 9,000 tons of paraformaldehyde, quoted a price of 5,400 RMB/ton (including tax) for paraformaldehyde (96), a price drop of 100 RMB/ton from last week. Zibo Qixing Chemical Technology Co., Ltd., with an annual output of 10,000 tons of paraformaldehyde, quoted a price of 5,600 RMB/ton (including tax) for paraformaldehyde (96), which was 200 RMB/ton lower than last week. Shandong Formaldehyde Industry Chemical Co., Ltd., with an annual output of 30,000 tons of paraformaldehyde, quoted an ex-factory price of 5,600 RMB/ton (including tax) for paraformaldehyde (96), which was unchanged from last week. Dragged down by the weakness of the raw material methanol market, the price of paraformaldehyde continued to decline. The delivery of polymethanol was general.

According to the monitoring data of SunSirs, the average price of domestic methanol from producers was 2,382 RMB/ton on January 14, and the average price of domestic methanol from producers was 2,515 RMB/ton on January 20, an increase of 5.56%. The recent rise in methanol prices was favorable for the price of polyformaldehyde.

Market outlook

Methanol prices rebounded, and paraformaldehyde analysts of SunSirs expected that the room for paraformaldehyde to fall is limited.
