SunSirs: The External Market Fell Sharply, Driving the Butadiene Market Down Continuously

According to the sample data monitored by SunSirs, from November 25 to December 2, the domestic butadiene market price fell from 6,763 RMB/ton to 6,366 RMB/ton, a 5.86% drop in the cycle, a 12.23% month on month decline and a 4.03% year-on-year increase. In terms of price, the delivery price in central region of Shandong Province was 6,500-6,600 RMB/ton, and the inquiry offer price for self picked up in East China was 6,000-6,300 RMB/ton.

Analysis review

The domestic butadiene market continued to fall, and the European price fell sharply at the beginning of the week, which affected merchants' concerns about the supply pressure of the global market. At the same time, the domestic northern spot resources were abundant, and the poor transaction dragged down the weak market. As the price of butadiene declined, the downstream made up for bargains periodically.

In terms of enterprises, the 30,000 t/a butadiene unit of Liaoyang Petrochemical Plant was operating steadily, 112 tons of goods were sold abroad through competitive bidding, and the transaction price was 6,050 RMB/ton. The 140,000 t/a butadiene plant of Dalian Hengli was operating stably, the source of goods was exported normally, and the listing price was lowered by 100 RMB/ton to 6,010 RMB/ton. The 64,000 t/a butadiene extraction unit of Shenhua Ningxia Coal was in normal operation. A small amount of goods were exported, and the price was stable at 5,850 RMB/t.

In terms of external market: the closing price on December 1, the external price of butadiene in Asia was stable: FOB South Korea reported 745-755 US dollars/ton; China CFR quoted at 755-765 US dollars/ton. The external price of butadiene in Europe remained stable: FOB Rotterdam closed at 495-505 US dollars/ton; FD Northwest Europe closed at 545-555 euros/ton.

According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the price of BR in China decreased significantly, with the price of 11,420 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 10,890 RMB/ton at the weekend, a decrease of 4.63%.

SunSirs monitored that the price of domestic SBR fluctuated slightly. The price at the beginning of the week was 10,908 RMB/ton, while at the weekend it was 10,859 RMB/ton, down 0.45%.

According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the price of acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber in China was narrowed down. The price was 15,125 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 15,149 RMB/ton at the weekend, up 0.16%.

Market outlook

As the price of butadiene dropped to a low level, the downstream on-demand followed up periodically. On the other hand, some early maintenance devices would resume normal operation, and the market supply may be weak. Butadiene analysts from SunSirs expect that the domestic butadiene market will be mainly sorted out in the short term in shocks.
