SunSirs: Domestic Live Pigs Prices Continued to Be Weak in February

March 01 2022 13:31:34     SunSirs (John)

Price trend

According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the price of ternary live pigs at home and abroad continued to decline in February. The average price on February 1 was 14.02 RMB/kg, and the average price on February 28 was 12.40 RMB/kg, a sharp drop of 11.55% within the month.

Analysis review

After the Spring Festival holiday, domestic terminal meat demand entered the traditional off-season of consumption, live pigs were released into the market one after another, and slaughterhouses continued to reduce the purchase price of live pigs. The problem of strong supply and weak demand in the live pig market became prominent, and the overall domestic pig price continued to decline in a weak manner in February.

In February, the domestic corn price fluctuated upwards, rising 0.59% within the month, the soybean meal price rose sharply, rising 25.74% within the month, the cost of breeding and feeding rose sharply, and the loss situation of pig breeding expanded again.

Market outlook

The pig product analyst of SunSirs believes that: in March, universities and colleges are about to start school one after another. In addition, the cost of breeding continues to rise. The cost and demand will support the price of pigs in the future. In March, domestic pig prices are expected to stop falling and stabilize, and then move forward with slight fluctuations.
