May 06 2024 14:11:01     SunSirs (John)

Price trend

According to monitoring data of SunSirs, the overall price of bromine rose in April. At the beginning of the month, the average market price of bromine was 18,200 RMB/ton, and at the end of the month, the average market price of bromine was 19,600 RMB/ton, with a price increase of 7.69% and a year-on-year decrease of 23.74%.

On April 28th, the bromine commodity index was 68.77 points, unchanged from the previous day, a decrease of 71.95% from the highest point of 245.18 points (2021-10-27) in the cycle, and an increase of 16.72% from the lowest point of 58.92 points on October 29th, 2014. (Note: The cycle refers to the period from September 1st, 2011 to present)

Supply and demand side:

The overall price of bromine had risen this month. The mainstream price in the Shandong market was around 18,500-20,500 RMB/ton. In terms of supply, various bromine manufacturers had stable supply, while imported bromine supply was average, which was beneficial for domestic bromine manufacturers and had led to an increase in bromine prices. However, downstream flame retardants and intermediate industries have been mainly purchasing on demand due to the rise in bromine prices recently, and stocking before the May Day holiday was nearing completion.

Regarding sulfur: The overall price of sulfur increased in April. At the beginning of the month, the average market price was 1,073.33 RMB/ton, and at the end of the month, the average market price was 1,200 RMB/ton, with a price increase of 11.8% and a year-on-year increase of 66.67%. The trading atmosphere in the sulfur market is still good, with sulfur enterprises actively shipping and downstream manufacturers mainly purchasing according to demand.

Market outlook

SunSirs’analysts believe that the price of bromine had recently risen this month. Downstream stocking of bromine before May Day was beneficial for the bromine market. Bromine manufacturers were producing normally, with overall stable supply. The downstream flame retardant and intermediate industries were generally supported,  the market was mainly cautious in procurement, and supply and demand gamed. Overall, it is expected that the price of bromine may consolidate in the short term, depending on downstream market demand.
