SunSirs: The Domestic Furfural Market Fluctuated and Declined in March

According to the Commodity Analysis System of SunSirs, the domestic furfural (national standard, industrial grade, 250KG/barrel) market fluctuated and declined in March. As of March 31st, the average quoted price of furfural was 10,125.00 RMB/ton (including tax), a decrease of 0.74% from 10,200.00 RMB/ton on March 1st.

Analysis review

Cost side: As of March 31st, the main production of furfural in China was corn cobs, and sulfuric acid was generally used as the catalyst. In March, the domestic sulfuric acid market rose, and the downstream titanium dioxide market fluctuated and rose. Downstream procurement enthusiasm for sulfuric acid was good. The upstream sulfur price had significantly increased, leading to increased cost support. The sulfuric acid analyst from SunSirs believes that in the short term, the sulfuric acid market may experience slight fluctuations and gains due to various factors such as supply and demand and raw materials, with consolidation being the main trend.

On the demand side, the domestic furfuryl alcohol (national standard, industrial grade, 250KG/barrel) market fluctuated and declined in March. As of March 31st, the average quoted price of furfuryl alcohol was 10,525.00 RMB/ton (including tax), a decrease of 0.71% from 10,600.00 RMB/ton on March 1st.

Market outlook

According to analysts from SunSirs Furfural Products, the upstream sulfuric acid market for furfural continued to rise, while the downstream furfural alcohol market fluctuated and declined. Furfural support was limited, and it is expected that furfural may be weakly consolidated in the near future.
