SunSirs: Chloroacetic Acid Was Consolidating in Early March

Price trend

According to monitoring data from SunSirs, after a slight decline in the domestic chloroacetic acid market at the end of February, the market trend remained stable, and the overall negotiation atmosphere was relatively light. As of March 18th, the average price of chloroacetic acid in China was 3,137 RMB/ton, a decrease of 4.2% from the price of 3,275 RMB/ton in mid February.

In terms of supply and demand:

On the one hand, due to significant fluctuations in raw material prices, most enterprises adjusted their operating rates and were dissatisfied with their operating load. On the other hand, downstream industries such as pesticides and dyes had not yet fully recovered their post holiday demand, and some enterprises mainly focused on digesting inventory, resulting in limited actual transactions.

In terms of raw material liquid chlorine:

Due to the parking and maintenance of some caustic soda enterprises, the market supply had decreased, and the liquid chlorine market had shown a positive trend in the near future.

Regarding raw material acetic acid:

Recently, the shipment of acetic acid factories had been smooth, and the inventory of enterprises had decreased. In addition, the resumption of upstream and downstream operations had led to an increase in replenishment in the market. The market trading atmosphere was good, and the quotation of acetic acid manufacturers had been raised.

Market outlook

The raw material liquid chlorine and glacial acetic acid markets had both risen, supporting the cost of chloroacetic acid. Some production enterprises still had accumulated inventory. The market supply is abundant in the short term, and it is expected that the chloroacetic acid market will consolidate in the near future.
