SunSirs: Cost Support Weakened, and CPL Prices Fell (September 18-22)

According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the average market price of domestic liquid CPL on September 18th was 14,066 RMB/ton, and on September 22nd, the average market price of domestic liquid CPL was 13,975 RMB/ton. CPL prices fell by 0.65% this week.

Analysis review

The market price of CPL rose first and then fell this week. The price of raw material pure benzene was lowered, and cost support was weakened. At the beginning of the week, the market supply was tight, and the market for CPL was strong. As the price of raw material pure benzene continued to decline, the price of CPL began to follow suit. The downstream trend was weaker, and demand was decreasing. As of September 22, the delivery price of Shandong Hualu Hengsheng’s liquid CPL to East China was 13,900 RMB/ton. Sinopec's liquid premium high-end CPL settlement price was 14,250 RMB/ton.

The price of raw material pure benzene had slightly decreased this week. On September 18th, the price of pure benzene was 8,717 RMB/ton, and on Friday (September 22nd), the price of pure benzene was 8,650 RMB/ton, a 2.08% decrease compared to last week. This week, the price of Sinopec pure benzene was 8,400 RMB/ton (prices in Shandong and Hebei regions had also dropped by 400 RMB/ton).

This week, the downstream PA6 market rose first and then fell. As of September 22nd, the reference average price of domestic PA6 was 14,825 RMB/ton.

Market outlook

SunSirs’ CPL analysts believe that the CPL market was operating to be weaker recently. The raw material pure benzene market had fallen, and cost support had weakened. Combined with poor downstream trends, demand had decreased. It is expected that the price of CPL will slightly decline in the short term. It is recommended to pay attention to changes in the raw material market.
