Price trend

According to monitoring data from SunSirs, as of July 25, 2023, the reference price of n-butanol in the Shandong region of China was 7,566 RMB/ton. Compared with July 1 (reference price of n-butanol was 7,316 RMB/ton), the price rose 250 RMB/ton, an increase of 3.42%.

Analysis review

From the monitoring chart of SunSirs data, it can be seen that since July (7.1-7.25), the domestic Shandong n-butanol market showed an upward trend overall. In early July, the market price of n-butanol was fluctuating upwards. At the beginning of the month, some n-butanol units were shut down for maintenance, and support from the supply side of n-butanol was strengthened. The n-butanol market continued to rise after a small fluctuation, with an increase of around 200-300 RMB/ton. As of July 10th, the price of n-butanol in the domestic Shandong region was around 7,300-7,700 RMB/ton, with an increase of 2.51% in the first ten days. In mid July, the preliminary maintenance of n-butanol was released, supply support weakened, and the overall market situation slightly declined. In late July, some units of n-butanol were repaired, resulting in a tight supply on site. In addition, with centralized replenishment from upstream and downstream, under the support from supply and demand, the market situation of n-butanol gradually approached upward. As of July 25th, the domestic market price of n-butanol in Shandong region was around 7,500-7,700 RMB/ton. And the trading atmosphere of n-butanol on the market was mild.

Market outlook

As of July 25th, the trading atmosphere in the n-butanol market was still fair, and the phased stocking was about to come to an end. Downstream procurement was mainly just on demand. SunSirs’ n-butanol data analysts predict that in the short term, the domestic Shandong n-butanol market will mainly adjust within a narrow range, and the specific trend needs to pay more attention to specific news changes on the supply and demand side.
