The price of isooctanol fluctuated and fell
According to the SunSirs commodity market analysis system, as of October 20, the price of isooctanol was 6,283.33 RMB/ton, a 4.07% decrease from the previous Monday, October 13, when the price was 6,550 RMB/ton. It also saw a 5.75% decrease from the previous Monday, October 1, when the price was 6,666.67 RMB/ton. Due to maintenance at some companies' isooctanol equipment, the operating rates of these plants decreased slightly, leading to a decrease in isooctanol supply. Furthermore, falling propylene prices had also reduced isooctanol costs. Last week, the decrease in isooctanol supply, coupled with lower costs, led to a volatile decline in isooctanol prices.
The cost of raw material propylene decreased
According to the SunSirs commodity market analysis system, as of October 20, the price of propylene was 6,195.75 RMB/ton, a 5.30% decrease from the price of 6,543.25 RMB/ton on October 1. Last week's propylene price saw a volatile decline, driven by falling raw material prices and lower isooctanol costs, which intensified downward pressure on isooctanol prices.
Downstream plasticizer DOP prices fluctuated and fell
According to the SunSirs Commodity Market Analysis System, as of October 20, the price of DOP was 7,209.17 RMB/ton, a 2.15% decrease from the price of 7,367.50 RMB/ton on October 1, and a 1.37% decrease from the price of 7,309.16 RMB/ton October 13. Last week's DOP price saw a volatile decline, with DOP companies operating at less than 60% of their capacity, resulting in a decline in DOP production and reduced demand for isooctanol, putting significant downward pressure on isooctanol prices.
Market outlook
The data analysts at SunSirs believe that falling propylene and raw material prices were increasing downward pressure on isooctanol prices. On the demand side, DOP prices were fluctuating downward, and DOP plant operating rates were slightly down, leading to a decline in DOP production and reduced demand for isooctanol. In the future market, the cost of isooctanol will drop, the demand will be weak, and the downward pressure on isooctanol will increase. It is expected that the price of isooctanol will fluctuate and fall in the future market.
