Data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on January 19 shows that China achieved a bumper grain harvest in 2025, with stable growth in animal husbandry.

The national grain output reached 714.88 million tons for the year, an increase of 8.38 million tons or 1.2% over the previous year. Specifically, summer grain output was 149.75 million tons, down 0.1%; early rice output was 28.51 million tons, up 1.2%; and autumn grain output was 536.62 million tons, up 1.5%. By crop type: Wheat production reached 140.07 million tons, remaining largely unchanged; Corn production totaled 301.24 million tons, up 2.1%; Rice production amounted to 209.04 million tons, increasing by 0.7%; Soybean production stood at 20.91 million tons, rising 1.3%. Annual meat production from pigs, cattle, sheep, and poultry reached 100.72 million tons, a 4.2% increase over the previous year, surpassing 100 million tons for the first time. Specifically, pork output reached 59.38 million tons, up 4.1%; beef output was 8.01 million tons, up 2.8%; mutton output was 4.96 million tons, down 4.2%; and poultry meat output was 28.37 million tons, up 6.7%. Milk production totaled 40.91 million tons, up 0.3%; while poultry egg output was 34.98 million tons, down 2.5%. The number of hogs slaughtered reached 719.73 million head, up 2.4% year-on-year. The hog inventory at year-end stood at 429.67 million head, an increase of 0.5%.
