According to the data monitoring of the business community, as of December 2, 2022, the reference price of the domestic MEK market is 8,800 yuan/ton, which is 66 yuan/ton lower than the price on November 28 (8,866 yuan/ton). As of December 2, the domestic MEK market price is around 8,400-9,100 yuan/ton.

Analysis review

It can be seen from the data monitoring chart of the business community that this week (11.28-12.02), the overall domestic MEK market fell slightly. This week, due to transportation and other factors in Wuhan, the overall adjustment of MEK market price was not significant. The MEK market price in Shandong decreased slightly by about 100 yuan/ton, while the focus of the MEK market in Jiangsu decreased by about 200 yuan/ton. The main factors influencing the decline of MEK market come from the following two aspects:

In terms of cost: the cost support for MEK given by raw material ether C4 market downturn recently is loose. After the cost benefit is weakened, the overall market price of MEK is weak and downward.

In terms of demand, the operating rate of downstream plants remains low, the demand for MEK continues to be cold, the demand support is insufficient, and the overall MEK market is dominated by downward movement.

Market outlook

At present, the support for MEK from both the raw material side and the demand side is relatively loose. Most of the more effective support in the MEK market comes from the relatively controllable inventory at the supply side, but there is no demand as an effective support, and the road to market strength is still difficult. MEK mathematicians from the business community believe that in the short term, the domestic MEK market is mainly adjusted narrowly and weakly.
