SunSirs: The Price of Propylene Oxide Fell Due to Insufficient Demand (October 14-18

According to the monitoring data of SunSirs, as of the noon of October 18, the average price of propylene oxide of propylene oxide enterprises was 10,066.67 RMB/ton, 2.27% lower than that on Friday (October 14), 0.98% lower than that on September 18, and 11.85% higher than that in a two month cycle.

Analysis review

From the perspective of supply and demand: recently, the supply side devices were mainly stable, the demand side performance was flat, the downstream bearish mentality was dominant, the procurement was cautious and wait-and-see, and mainly maintained a low volume follow-up. Factory shipments were flat, inventory was gradually accumulated, and the price of propylene oxide fell under pressure.

From the perspective of cost: raw propylene, the domestic propylene (Shandong) market dropped significantly recently. According to the data monitoring of SunSirs, on October 17, the reference price of propylene was 7,436.60 RMB/ton, a decrease of 2.41% compared with October 1 (7,620.60 RMB/ton). Recently, the support of the cost for propylene oxide market weakened.

Market outlook

To sum up, recently, the price of raw propylene has been weak, and the lack of demand side follow-up has dragged down the price of propylene oxide market. At present, the cost support is general, the inventory is under pressure, and the downstream is cautious. It is expected that in the short term, the epoxy propane market will be weak and consolidate,and more attention should be paid to the market news guidance.
