SunSirs: Raw Material Prices Fluctuated, and CPL Market First Rose and Then Fell in October

According to the data from SunSirs’ bulk list, the average domestic liquid CPL price was 16,050 RMB/ton on October 1, and the average domestic liquid CPL price was 16,175 RMB/ton on October 31. CPL prices rose 0.78% this month.

Analysis review

CPL prices rose first and then fell this month. In the first half of October, the price of raw materials rose after the National Day, and the cost support was strong. Due to the impact of dual control, some companies had not yet resumed supply, and the supply of goods was relatively tight. Some CPL enterprises were shut down. In the second half of October, raw material prices began to fall, and the CPL market stabilized and then moved downward. As of October 31, Sinopec’s liquid CPL was quoted at 16,450 RMB/ton. Fujian Tianchen has a production capacity of 350,000 tons and the load was about 90%. Baling Hengyi CPL liquid price was 16,450 RMB/ton. Baling Petrochemical's CPL liquid price was 16,450 RMB/ton, with a production capacity of 300,000 tons. Shandong Luxi Chemical had no quotation for CPL, and the factory has a production capacity of 300,000 tons. The Shandong Haili plant was in shutdown and would not restart for the time being.

The price of raw material pure benzene rose first and then fell this month. In the first half of October, pure benzene continued to rise, and prices rose broadly. Prices began to fluctuate downward in the second half of the month, and fell sharply at the end of the month. The average price on October 1st was 7,880 RMB/ton, and the average price on October 31st was 7,600 RMB/ton. This month's decline was 3.55%, an increase of 111.11% over the same period last year, and the highest and lowest price difference in the month was 980 RMB/ton.

Market outlook

The CPL analyst of SunSirs believes that the current cost market is weak, and the prices of coal and pure benzene are falling, and the trend is weak in the short term. Some CPL enterprises plan to restart, and the supply will increase in November. Downstream starts are low, prices are falling, and confidence in the market is lacking. The market price of CPL is expected to move downward in the short term.
