September 04 2026 13:32:53     SunSirs (John)

Price trends

According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, as of September 3, 2026, the reference price of n-butanol in the Shandong region was 7,866 RMB/ton; compared to the price on August 31 (7,566 RMB/ton), this represents an increase of 300 yuan, or 3.96%.

Price trend data

Data from the SunSirs monitoring system indicates that the domestic n-butanol market in Shandong experienced a steady upward trend in early September. Market trading levels in the region shifted higher, with cumulative increases of approximately 100-200 RMB/ton; as of September 3, the reference price for n-butanol in Shandong stood at around 7,500-7,900 RMB/ton.

Fundamentals

Regarding costs: Driven by international crude oil prices, the market price of propylene—an upstream raw material for n-butanol—has recently risen, thereby strengthening cost-side support for n-butanol prices.

Regarding supply and demand: At the beginning of the month, spot market supply of n-butanol in Shandong was limited, providing a floor for prices. Downstream purchasing sentiment improved, and market trading activity was robust; this improved supply-demand dynamic drove an upward trend in n-butanol prices.

Market outlook

Currently, market inquiries for n-butanol are moderate, supported by favorable market fundamentals. In the short term, n-butanol prices are expected to trend towards the higher end of the range; however, specific movements will depend on factors such as operating rates in downstream industries and shifts in supply and demand.
