Market Analysis
Market Performance This Month: Bromine prices rose initially before falling. In Shandong and North China, market prices remained firm, with ex-works prices hovering between 35,500 and 38,000 RMB/ton—an increase of 500-1,000 RMB/ton from earlier levels. Manufacturers showed a clear tendency to hold firm on prices and limit sales due to low inventory, while downstream buyers purchased only to meet immediate needs, creating a "wait-and-see" atmosphere. By mid-month, ex-works prices in Shandong had reached the 39,000-40,000 RMB/ton range; although manufacturers maintained their stance of limiting sales and supporting prices, traders were eager to offload stock, causing transaction prices to dip slightly. Regarding demand, downstream requirements remained modest, with purchasing limited to immediate needs. By month-end, ex-works prices in Shandong settled in the 37,000-38,000 RMB/ton range. Manufacturers continued to hold firm on prices, but some traders sold at lower rates, causing a slight decline in transaction prices. Demand remained lackluster, with purchasing continuing to be driven solely by immediate requirements.
Regarding raw materials, domestic sulfur prices trended downward overall last week; the average market price fell from 9,185.67 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week to 8,349 RMB/ton by the weekend—a decline of 9.11%—though this represents a 216.53% increase compared to the same period last year. Downstream demand remains steady.
Market Outlook
Bromine prices have recently been trending weakly. While upstream sulfur prices have fallen, manufacturers are holding firm on bromine prices; meanwhile, downstream buyers are purchasing cautiously, resulting in a tug-of-war between supply and demand. Overall, bromine prices are expected to remain weak in the near term, with the specific trajectory depending on downstream market demand.
